And you will not have the Rear Wheel Horsepower you think you will. I bet it will be between 170-180 horses at the rear wheels.

You've done NO ENGINE MODS, so the motor will still have the same power. Back in the 80's they did horsepower with NO ACCESSORIES ON THE MOTOR.

And a 2.0 Second 60' foot time shows you can't drive at the drag strip.
On street tires? Get out of here with that horseshit.

Let me guess, a good driver can get a 1.7 60ft on street tires? Lol ya ok buddy. Show me that on a stock suspension fox body coupe.

    Stock fox body's with a clutch fan dyno 190-200 through a 5spd.

If you're going to state things, be accurate.

      • So my car should dyno 220-230 rwhp like I said.

            • Arguing with Chevy guys is futile, Mike. They're never wrong... the 350 is the greatest engine ever and Hot Rod magazine said so so it must be true. Peak power numbers mean everything, power curves nothing. The IROC is the most aerodynamic car ever made... except for the Corvette. If it weren't for the 9" rear Chevy guys wouldn't even need Ford. 8-71 blowers, 3/4 RV cams, posi, etc.

I wouldn't even bother with this shit. Just go race! I raced plenty of LT1s back in the day when they were fresh and my nearly stock 85 GT wasn't and they were fucking slow.

Back when cars with 200 horses were fast..... Back in the day a 12 second car was a "Trailer" Car.

Hell by modern standards, my Wifes Camry is on Par with a Fox Car, Actually quicker by stats of the old days. A New V6 Camry can run a 1/4 Mile at 14.2 @ 99 mph, thats quicker than the old fox Mustangs of the day.. Stock Vs Stock.
200hp has never been "fast," nor has a 12 second car been trailered, unless it broke down.

I'm not for sure where this guy gets his information.

A fox with a untouched enigine, and everything else changed.. No drive acc, weight reduction, front and rear suspenSion mods and gears will net a 12.8 in the 1/4 mile.

Factory stock guys used to run in the 10s.

I'll just float on past them with my shiny ass ponies.

Hit the hazards, tap the brake and flicker the reverse lights. LOL

Seems like there was an awful lot of excitement in the mid 80's when the first EFI 5 liters cracked the 200hp mark...and there were a shit ton of Ford guys proclaiming how "fast" their 5 liters were when the TPI guys were making 210 and 215hp out of their tank 3rd gens. Pretty sure the Buick Grand National was considered "fast" with its non-intercooled 200hp V6 considering it was pretty consistently putting the smack-down on a lot of cars back then including Vettes. And YES.....maybe your too young to remember the old days of the street races back in the 80's and early 90's when there were PLENTY of 12 second cars showing up on trailers like they were top-fuel dragsters. Anyone remember the Astro drive-in, sweetheart cup, or ESPECIALLY the I-20 service road in Desoto/Carter?

                      • Grand nationals made over 200hp, unless the earlier years are differant.

The grand national is a bad bitch. I love those cars, always have.

So much torque. GM underrated them bad too, they made more power and were faster then the vette and they couldn't have that.

The only one that was "truly" underrated was the 87 GNX which Buick leisurely advertised had 276hp. It actually had just about 300.
The EARLY SFI GN's (84-85) only had 200hp at best..but made 300ft-lbs of torque.
My 85 was in piss-poor shape when I got it and ran 15.5@87mph detonating all the way down the track. I dynoed it once with the original motor and it made a depressing 175hp at the wheels with about 260 lb-ft of torque. The ones to get have always been the 86-87's. Most people think they are HUGE and heavy cars....but they actually only weigh around 3200-3400 lbs depending on options. Lotta empty space in that big hollow body. Mine is fully loaded and weighs in at about 3400.

I love how some of the younger people think they know what happened in the 80s. I was there and remember all this stuff.

As much as I like mustangs, it always cracks me up to hear these younger people state a 5.0 will do a 12 second quarter mile stock. Or how a 5.0L motor that dynoed at 210-225 horses on a engine dyno will dyno at 225 horses at the wheels on their car.

Have you been under a rock?

Fuck the 80s, im talking 90s.

I said they dyno 190-200 at the wheels. Where do you see 210-225?

My car has short belt, no p/s no smog, underdrive pulleys, off road h, a conical filtercharger and advanced timing. All minimal gains. But they stack up. If you follow the link I posted. The car has the same stuff I have and it dynos close to 230rwhp! Lol!!

I guess you never been to a fun ford weekend.

There have been several write ups on STRIPPED down foxes going into the 12s with an engine stock TB to the headers, but everything else is modified. Runs 12.8.

Find the Rock you've been chilling under and get out from under it.

This thread was started about the 80's.

I SAID STOCK. A stripped car is not stock. The definition of Stock is what came from the factory, down to the factory set timing and paper filter.

I've probably been to more drag strip events than you have. I've been going to them since the 70's.

                                AGAIN:

A ENGINE DYNOED Ford 5.0L 302- Its dynoed at the factory without ANY Accessories on it. They got 225 Horses out of it.

Now you say your engine is completely STOCK, with the exception of a short belt or some jazz that bypasses your smog equipment and power steering. The ENGINE IS STILL STOCK AT 225 HORSES.

So what your saying is now your car magically gained over 50 horses at the flywheel so you can now dyno your car at 225 at the wheels. YET YOU HAVE NEVER TAKEN YOUR CAR TO A DYNO.

Who's the one talking out of their arse?

FYI: Fox cars usually dyno in the 170-180 range.
