The 5.0L TPI IROC-Z was at it's best with an automatic in 1985, made 215HP. Then it was detuned for 86-88, made a craptastic 190HP, except for the manual tranny, which was bumped to 220HP. In 89 and 90, the G92 package with the 5.0L and a manual got 230HP.
Now, the IROC could also be ordered with the TBI and Carbed engines which also suck major ass. So, if you ran an 86 Iroc with TPI auto, it will get dusted, however an 89 G92 would likely smoke any stock fox body 5.0L mustang.
The 5.7L's also got different power levels, 225HP in 87 and peaking at 240HP and 345ftlbs of torque with the G92 package in 89. The one my mom has is an 89 with 230HP/330ftlbs and a 2.77 gear ratio.
On to an LT1 car, there is no way in HELL that a stock POS 5.0L coupe is going to take one. I could barely pull them in my 4V swapped 96 GT. I also know that a 5.0L coupe isn't going to take an L98 Vette.
