350 auto vs coupe 5spd gets it's ass handed to it still. I ran a 87 tpi vette, I pulled it. I also ran a lt1 auto on the highway and it got pulled by 2-3 cars.

The camaro wasn't beating the 5spd mustang coupes until the ls1.

Lt1s are not as slow but for 350cubes it gets smoked by a emissions friendly ford 302.
Back in 1990, the fastest Camaro was the 305 tpi 1LE cars with the 5 speed. GM made this 305 produced 230 horses and the made the car lighter with aluminum flywheel, drive shaft and some other parts. It was about 100 pounds heavier than the mustang.

The cars were almost identical in 1/4 mile times and mph. It was a drivers race.

Back in those days, the mustang usually won

Do any of you guys really believe those "stock" cars were stock? I bet you guys got taken.

And that ass 10 seems to have a traction issue... J/k.

I had a 94 Bird w/auto and it took a modified fox to keep up with it. That car you ran on the highway did it have 3.23 gears? Also what speed did yall go from? With my 2.73's from a 60 punch it'd downshift to 2nd gear and leave a fox easily.

I can'rt believe that I didn't think of it earlier - Let me talk to my ex-GF and see if she'll let me get her GTA out and race somebody's stock 5.0. It's box stock except for a fiberglass hood(which is probably a aerodynamic hindrance).

As I recall it ran consistent 9.0's in the 1/8th here in Abilene where there DA normally slows cars down a tenth or two.

                              How stock you talking?

E fans, aluminum driveshaft, pullies, no smog, no p/s. 3.73s, and off road h. Engine is stock throttle body and even headers.

Weighs 3100 with me in it.

IROC's were pigs. WAY too heavy. I used to love spanking them with my 4 cyl Dodge Omni. Nothing like the expression on their face when I pulled a car length in every gear! This was in 1986 to 1990. I could spank a AOD stang and hang with a 5 spd that had 2.73's but the 3.08 cars would definitly pull me.
                                In my experience 5 spd > Omni > IROC 350 > AOD > IROC 305
