  • air in brake lines

I need some help, i changed out my brake lines for SS lines and flushed the fluid with my motive power bleeder. I thought i was all good, but the pedal still is very very soft and goes almost to the floor before the car stops. If i pump the pedal it builds up pressure and then feels fine. I bled the hell out of them and still cant get all the air out. Anybody got any tips how to get all the air out?

Sounds like you have air in the master cylinder. Try to bleed that.

This. Bench bleed if you have to. Are you sure you're bleeding the brakes in the correcr order?

yeah, i'm doing the correct order for calipers. I never let the MC run out of fluid, but i can try to bleed it too. how do you bleed the master cylinder?

Crack the lines one at a time and slowly pump pedal, you will have to redo each corner after.

I do have a weird one that happened a couple years ago that kicked my ass for a couple weeks. 80 cj-7 did a shackle reverse on the front and b/c of the finished height had to put longer brake hoses on,so... pedal was soft after that pump it one time and get a good pedal. Tried a new master cyl, nope. Gravity, power bleed, etc nothing helped. I couldn't find leak anywhere. So... about two months later it showed itself, hairline crack on the steel line ontop the rear axle. Fixed that and all is well.
