Anyone have the Harbor Freight CAN ODBII Scan Tool

Thinking about picking up this scan tool after work today. Harbor Freight has it for 129 (normally 159). Looks like it would be pretty handy to keep around to diagnose problems since it shows real time sensor data, records data, allows you to trigger recording manually for intermittent problems, etc.


Anyone have/used this scan tool? Is it worth 130+tax? How long will it record for? Seems like if it records for at least 10 seconds it could be used to review my 1/8th mile passes and allow me to analyze them a little better with out having to pay $400 for HPTuners scan tool.

Yeah, and it works, though it doent have a lot of functions. It'll clear a CEL.

Which one do you use? I see that some of them will read domestic ABS data, will they do any body codes? I really only need the body codes on GM stuff and have access to a Tech2 for that but it'd be nice to not have to borrow it.

Every once in a while I'll work on Toyota and Nissans, it'd be great to have one scanner for everything. Especially for under $200!

I have been looking on Amazon and they make scanners that work with the iphone/ipad and others that work with laptops.

Ideally I'd like something that has a fast refresh rate that will make graphs like HPTuners does (without the $400 price tag).

Im actually in the market for a new one. Im currently checking out the 3140. it doesnt do abs, but has obd1 attachments which can be a plus sometimes...I havent really searched for one that does body codes as I dont get much of that either.I know they offer one that does abs but doesnt include the obd1 stuff, if thats more important to ya

I picked up the odbII from Wal-Mart for $99. Can't remember which one it is, but 0'rielly's carries the same one, but about $25 more.

Yes sir, just checked and you're right. It's a Innova 3100, good to have around and have cleared check engine light a few times on the wife's car after a repair.
It payed for itself the 1st time I used it.

I ended up buying an Innovate OT-2, it works with my iPhone, iPad, and should also work with my laptop. Offers real time data logging of all odbii parameters, allows for additional sensors to be added, and a bunch of other features. Will be nice to be able to log all of my passes and review them later.

I dont know if it will do what you want but there is an Android app called Torque .... OBDII scanner that works thru bluetooth. All you need is a $20 bluetooth adapter that hooks up to the OBD port on the car. Total cost is somewhere around $30

Only problem with that is the iphone can't use bluetooth for these kinds of functions (has to be a odb to wifi adapter) and this will allow outside sensors (namely the innovate lc1) to be used/logged with it.
