  • rear brake rotor issue

I had my calipers powder coated, and was putting them back on and have run into an issue. The driver side rotor doesn't line up in between the caliper bracket. It rubs the bracket only on the bottom side. The rotor does wobble around while on the car, so I didn't know if it would all line up fine once I put the wheels back on and torque it all down. The only thing that is weird is the passenger side rotor doesn't wobble at all and is lined up perfect without the wheels on. I just don't see anything that could be off since there is only one posotion the bracket can bolt on. Anybody have any clues?

seems like your rotor is just leaning forward. do you not have your brake pads in?

By wobble do you mean when you spin it? If that's the case then it could be a warped rotor or bent axle.

Your axle may have too much play.. but those are legit Cobra calipers so I find it hard to believe they wouldn't have enough tolerance. If it is just a clearance issue you could use a washer to space the caliper out from the bracket. That would be a last resort, of course. Define "wobble".

Also, those calipers look badass! If you don't mind sharing, would you PM me some details about the powdercoating... that is, who did the work and how much $$?

By wobble, i mean you can grab the rotor (not spinning it) and there is slight play. Like its not sitting flush and tight against the hub like the passenger side rotor.

The wierd thing is that these arent new brakes, everything was perfect when i took them off to have them powder coated. The only thing i changed was added new hawk HPS pads. Maybe i'll just pull it all off and try that side again and see if anything changes.

Tenegram, i'll PM you the info on the powdercoater i used

Are you sure you have the brake rotor all the way against the axle flange?

^^ This, it sounds like there is something between the mating surface's.

well, i think i got it figured out. It was the caliper that was just not aligned, one side had the slide pin compressed a little more than the other side. Once i gave the caliper a good shove, it all fell into place and lined up.
