ok, after hours of googling ive come up with this , some thunderbirds had HO motors in them with forged pistons some did not, but it is unclear whether the non HO motor had cast OR lightweight hypereutectic pistons, im stumped, hopefully in the morning someone can shed some more light on this subject .

Mike said they were cast, and then he said he assembled the motor.

That being said I'd go with them being cast.

I ran a 125 shot on cast pistons for years. Just make sure timing/plugs/fuel is right and you will be ok. When I installed a dedicated fuel system for the nitrous I stepped it up to a 150 shot and went another few years.. This was all on a chevy 350..

The 3924 will be fine. That is a step colder heat range then stock.
