  • craftsman torque wrench

so, i have a fair amount of tools, all craftsman. i dont have any torque wrenches and the few times i have needed one i just borrowed one from a friend.

sears is running a deal for 50% off their microtork line of torque wrenches which makes them only $39.99 each.

    they have 3 different models:
    1/2" drive 20-150 ft lb
    3/8" drive 10-70 ft lb
    3/8" drive 20-250 inch lb

i wanted to buy these BUT reviews are fairly crappy. are these trash?
i've steered clear of harbor freight torque wrenches for that same reason.

    thanks!

Sounds good to me. I have the one from harbor freight. No problems. I have had a three foot bar wedged between frame and wrench several times with no problems.

I've got the 1/2" drive in my stables. I've had it for a few years now. It's not meant to be a loosening bar. Only torqueing. I have no complaints.

Tourqe wrenches are one of those tools that I wont go cheap on and I will not loan out. I have all craftsman tools and my main tourqe wrench is a snap on. I do also have a craftsman one and one time I did tourqe a bolt down with the snap on and then checked it with the craftsman and it checked out so they are good, just keep them zero'd out when not in use, dont use them as breaker bars or any other stuff and ONLY use them for tourqeing down.

I can promise you that wrench is no longer accurate.

I have 3 Craftsman torque wrenches. One is 10 years old and works great. I had it checked for calibration in Lewisville last year and was still within spec. The other two are Microtork like you listed above (the middle one and the other is Inch-lbs). I got this same deal last year. So far both have worked great. For $40 I don't think you can beat it.

I have an old HJ Williams torque wrench and love it. It was my grandpa's and I have been using it for atleast 18 years without a hickup. No telling how long my grandpa used it.

I even had the calibration lab where I work check it a few years ago and it's spot on.

It's like this one. With the buy it now price, I may pick this one up too.

well, slickdeals is on it and their thread is now at 6 pages. for the most part it seems to work but a lot of people agree this isnt that good. they are prone to breakage with their plastic parts and only carry a 1 year warranty.

people seem to suggest CDI which is a subdivision of snap-on at half the price.
