    Strange 4.00 Ring & Pinion

    The Galaxie i bought a couple of weeks ago came w/ a trunk full of part. Just got around to going through all of it. Well i found a box w/ a brand new set of gears but it didn't say what size. So i counted the teeth on the ring and pinion and found a calculator online. It's a 4.00, never even heard of this ratio. Went on Strange's website and found it, its the most expensive street/standard gear they have but i don't know why.

    Does anyone have any experience w/ this gear ratio? Car has 3.23 now, I was gonna go 4.11 until i found this in the trunk. I also did a google search and cant find anything about anyone using this gear.
    You remember the stories John use to tell us about the the three chinamen playing Fantan? This guy runs up to them and says, "Hey, the world's coming to an end!" and the first one says, "Well, I best go to the mission and pray," and the second one says, "Well, hell, I'm gonna go and buy me a case of Mezcal and six whores," and the third one says "Well, I'm gonna finish the game."       Be sure it will "bolt" in.
      Lots of circle track guys, years ago, had requested "different" gear ratios for different tracks.
      They DO NOT bolt into stock differentals. I hope they work out for you. The set of ring and pinion I aqquired used different size bearings than stock and the ring bolt pattern was bigger in diameter.

        I'm dropping the rear next weekend to install all new suspension. I guess i'll crack the diff while i'm at it.

        Well they're here and free, so lets hope they fit. If not i guess they'll be for sale soon.
