it was a messy situation did not need to get stirred anymore nor did he post what really happened.
we got screwed over 3 times on base mixes that could not even be tinted properly.
that among other things that were not in my control.
but its all being handled and he is not the only person we've done work for. there are plenty of satisfied customers with our work so no need to generalize.

While I don't know you, or your work ethic or anything about the situation - there's one thing that sticks out - YOU have eyes, your employees have eyes and they undoubtedly work if you are painting a car, and I can assure you that you saw the horrendous mismatch in those colors. There is NO way you can justify letting that car go and pawning the blame off on tinting etc... nor the misaligned panels, etc..Then there's the timeframe of 6 weeks.

Again, I don't know all the details....but from the outside looking in, those thigns stick out.

Of course I have eyes brooks thats exactly why he was told that ahead of time and when he took delivery of the car he was made aware of what happened and even offered to fix the car.trust me I was not happy with my employees work that it's why they are no longer with us
Thats all I will say for now but I can understand your on the outside looking in and thats all it is and I'm confident that brent and I will get things worked out.

Thats why you should have a mixing system in your shop and make your own colors.

I am an independent shop owner and we have a mixing system. It is a must have for any high volume collision repair shop.

Good guns arn't cheap and likely not worth it if you are doing just one car. I use an Iwata lph400 1.3 with the purple cap. It works great with flakes. For the candy I use lph400 1.4 with silver cap or ls400 1.4 you can stripe it with the candy really quick if your gun has an uneven pattern.
Thats just a little to think about. You also have to worry about trash, temp, ventilation, are you going to seal it, speed of product(dry time), speed and distance of gun from panel, clear gun, etc...

What color and are you sure your body work is spot on?
I've had pretty good results with metallics with a $60 harbor freight gun. Every screw up i have is a result of my technique/inexperience far more than the gun i'm using. The gun is only as good as the painter that is using it. I'm still learning so a world class paint gun is of no use to me right now - i can't take full advantage of it.

Focus on the basics like you said - trash, temp, ventilation, and technique. Once you get some skills then IMO the quality of the gun comes more into play.

One of the biggest things I learned spraying in a garage is, when you are spraying at night or in the evening, hang a peice of 1 1/2 or 2 in tape from each of the lights to catch the bugs flying around. Then it is fun to see what you caught the next day lol.
