  • Speedometer gear for 3.73s!

I have the yellow tailshaft gear and I'm running the red speed gear. Because that is what latemodel said would be correct.

I'm reading about 7-10 too fast.

    320rwhp. 7.67 @ 90mph 1.7 60'

You need to count the actual teeth.

Different companies used different color codes.

Over the years ford changed colors on the gears.

Assuming you have the 7 spline yellow gear on the tranny, youll need a 23 tooth cable gear for 3.73's.

If you have an 89 and prior T5 with the yellow 7 tooth drive gear you need the red 21 tooth driven gear. If you have the post 89 T5 with the green 8 tooth you are out of luck. The closest you will get is the 23 tooth white driven gear which is for a Jeep. The other bad news is that the 23 tooth gear doesn't mesh correctly and wears fast.

                    So I needed a 21 tooth gear not a 23?

Ford racing says otherwise, why's that?
