Bypassing Ignition Box

Is there a way to bypass the ignition box and use a msd dist and blaster coil without the MSD box. ( Like how the car came). According to MSD the billet distributors must be connected to an MSD box.

I am trying to troubleshoot to figure out if my problem is the box or the dist.
