I tried to use the nitrous at the cruise and couldn't get it to work. Every time I flipped the switch I got a stumble and it kept on stumbling until I cut the switch off and then it would pick right back up like normal. I only got the nitrous to work somewhat half assed on my 6th pass and then I flipped the switch more than half way down the track.. My datlogs show my AFR going fro 10.8-12.5 back and forth up and down! I dont get it. My mph went from 76 NA up to 84 with it working correctly top of 2nd and part of 3rd. I just don't get the fluctuating AFR?

No head room for the nitrous to expand and contract, as heat builds and the bottle pressure goes up there is a temp point of cross over were the psi will rise faster then temp and the bottle psi can rise and drop super fast with temp change of the n20 and bottel, cause crazy flow serge, blow the disc off at the least. 9-10 pounds of liquid nitrous in the bottle max.
what tune up did you decide to run?Last edited by JETFAST; 05-30-2011, 01:50 PM.

I used a 54 Nitrous and a 30 fuel. It was super rich. One thing I did notice is that on my second failed attempt to spray I aborted after about 2 seconds because it took off then nosed over any my AFR gauge was showing 17's! I had the bottle filled at Lenmar and the first time I cracked the bottle was at Kennedale. I tried to flip the switch right after launch in 1st at about 3000 rpm. The truck got silent for a split second. Like it lost all spark and then it picked back up and took off like it does when I'm not using any nitrous. I wasnt datalogging and didnt glance at the AF gauge. I just flipped the switch off and finished my run. Think it was a 8.9 or 9.0@ 75 or 76mph. Aboput normal for a NA run, but maybe a little slower because my timing is only 20 degrees. I just went outside and gave it a 2 gear run and sprayed from a dead stop. I have added 4 degrees of timing as well. It ran bad ass without any issues except my AFR datalogs a full point swing from 10.6-11.8 going back and forth! WTF? Doesn't feel like it's surging though. It felt really strong!

Your issues you are having are all novice issues. The deal with flipping a switch on and off half way threw the run is alot of your problem. If you are going to make a nitrous run, turn the switch on, and leave the switch on. Purge before activation. no purge before activation, the nitrous that was liquid in the line has perculated off into gas, and you will have a rich activation as a result.
When the nitrous is liquid all the way to the noid, you may see an initial lean spike appon activation, just before the power settles in. This is very common in a single fogger set up. can be smoothed out with jet changes and pressure changes, even smooth it out with the computer for final results.
Pull to the line. purge. start data. stage, purge, Leave. Spray that little pussy ass shot threw all gears to the finishline. don't pedal. don't flip switches. Don't abort the run unless you are looking at the wall.
Review your data, then make sound adjustment based on your solid data. repeat.
AS long as you are turning the kit on and off, and not following proper procedure, you will no doubt get all the results you are finding. Fliping the nitrous on and off in the middle of a run, you might as well be pumping the gas pedal too. The air fuel readings will be all over the place.
you will never know how rich it is with out a good data log with you on the gas all the way threw 1to1. You have got to load it up.
Thats the leanest tune up you have run yet. you just haven't stayed on the gas long enough to get a good data log to see where you are at.
Find you a strech of road, spray threw third gear only, record data from 2,500 to red line.Last edited by JETFAST; 05-30-2011, 07:11 PM.

Thanks for the info Jet. I really appreciate it. I didn't realize that about the nitrous in the line. Makes perfect sense. I need to get rid of my 20' feed line and replace it with an 9' line. Think it's ok to spray right out the gate with no stall converter and a 4500 truck?

Thanks man! Wish it had run better. I'm going to make it back out and see about hitting some low 8's. I would like to get my rollpan painted first. I've been as fast as 8.7 on a few occasions with no poweradder. I have 30º+ of timing to get there though. With the nitrous I.ve been pulling it back to 20-22º and this is why my NA times Sat were only a 9.0 or worse. I've added 4º to the nitrous tune and getting 2 bottles filled tomorrow. I'm gonna do what Jet said and run a few passes here by my house through all 4 gears with the datlog running. Maybe I can get up to 26 degrees of timing and still have a margin af safety on the "pussy ass 125 shot!" Ha ha ha! Gotta love his honesty.
