Well I just got this S-10 with 52k miles. Highway mileage is excellent, but town mileage seems to be lacking. I've gone through half a tank in two days and driven 104 miles. The tank is 18 gallons. The truck has the Vortec V-6 w/ an Automatic transmission. Does this seem normal or should I expect better mileage? Anything I can do to increase my mileage?

senders in those arent real reliable. I wouldnt jump to conclusions until you figure mileage at fillup. any problems like black smoke or any driveability concerns? They had some common problems but like I said, I wouldnt jump to conclusions yet...Ring and pinion specialist -
My 01 gets 17-21 mpg and the fuel gauge is completely worthless. V-6, auto, ext cab, ZQ8 with 43k miles. I'd say you are doing okay. It has a low fuel light but I just fill mine up when it gets 250 miles on a tank.Comment

Thanks for the issues. Mine is also an extended cab and whatnot. I've had no driveablity issues or complaints whatsoever with the vehicle.Comment
