You dont need to replace the calipers, just rebuild them. It is cheap and super easy if you need to. The master cylinder should be easy, the only thing thing I worry about is the ABS.

Well your not far off but she is going to have to do all 4 then it will save alot. I just looked up calipers and kits on rockauto and its $22 for a unloaded caliper compared to $3 for a rebuild kit. There is only a couple o-rings that need to be replaced. Pop out the piston, clean the hell out of the caliper, blow it all off and replace the o-rings. I doubt she would need to hone out the cylinder but I could be wrong.

I know Im telling you nothing new, just throwing it out there for her if she wants to save a few bucks.

The vehicle isn't really worth anything. Just an extra set of wheels to run until they fall off. I'll take the less expensive route just to keep it around for awhile. Guess passing it down to the soon to be new driver is now out of the question though for obvious safety reasons. GRR

Thanks for all the advice guys! Weekend project.

Who the hell put transmission fluid in the brake system? That's what your mechanic is going to be saying.

What was leaking all the fluid out since you had no brakes?

                    ATF in Master Cylinder

Had a friend do that in a very late model Honda. I think the tab was $ 3500 to fix everything. Plenty bad deal. He was the same guy that drove a new Saturn into a low water crossing where it drowned out. He pushed it back out of the water and tried to start it. You know the drill.........bent rod and ventilated block. He's a nice guy, just needs a keeper sometimes.

This "occurred" in a crappy lil 97 V6 stang.

First of all, no I didn't do it. Second of all, this is a paid off car that is used for convenience and was going to the kid this summer, but, um yea...this sucks.

This cannot be that difficult. Jack it up, take the tires off, and bleed the brakes or something?

                      Thanks fuckers,

Try to bleed that brakes. Your always welcome. By the way take care with the kids.
