Tuning new 5.0

anyone had a local shop tune the new 5.0? other than the shop owners tuning their own cars?

what kind of results are people seeing in terms of reliability and performance? i know the guys know their stuff on 2, 3 and older 4V stuff, but everything ive read and heard says this new 5.0 with the variable cam timing plus all the other changes make tuning CORRECTLY much more difficult.

i would just like some feedback on experiences from the local crowd. Thanks

Im pretty sure travis has done a few...Travis really hooked up the last 4 cam I sent over there for tuning

+1 Travis has tuned quite a few of them with great results.

394rwhp completely stock... Even the paper filter. That's the only one I've seen personally get dyno'd and that was at Gearheads.

Manny at hpp tuned mike kelleys new 5.0 with a procharger. Pretty sure it Made over 800

I made 419/378 with cat back, JLT and a BOSS 302 intake manifold on a pretty conservative tune. Stock manifolds and factory cats. Travis@Gearheads did my tuning and I'd recommend him to anyone.

he fixed alot of tunissues on the e 4 cam I sent him. Previous shop had more than one attempt and couldnt get it ironed out.Driveability flat out sucked before he got it.

interesting. i just made 387 at the tire with a JLT CAI and mail order tune. I know there is a lot of variablity in a mail order tune. but i figured that was in line with what the car had done to it.

Lonestar took an auto and w/ tune,gears,exhaust,and cia it went 7.30s@96.

Needs a tune. My corrected stock numbers were 379/360

i believe it. i said the autos would be extremely fast before they even hit the street.

its possible. i may look into it. but if i do im not gonna spend the $300 or more until i actually need it, i.e. headers, BOSS intake or what not.

i do...and SCT Xcal3.

but if i take my car to Travis he will dyno tune it and charge accordingly.
