  • Timeing issue.HELLLLP!

    Just bought a new harmonic balancer from summit. the problem i have been haveing is i cant get the marker to line up with 14degrees advance. when i get close to it the car dies. this is the second harmonic that has done this. it is a 28oz harmonic. im not runng 50oz. Buy the way its in a 89 gt.

    Is it one of their balancers with multiple sets of timing marks?

        the balancer is for a b timing tab instead of a c timing tab or vice versa

          Invest in a piston stop. Its a 8dollar tool from summit, jegs etc. Put it in cylinder one and spin motor clockwise till it stops and mark balancer. Then spin motor counter clock wise till it stops and mark it. The center line between theese marks it true tdc for your motor. Mark this line and I use pink nail polish. Yes I keep a bottle in my tool box. Then use a good timing light with an advance feature and your done. I do this on every engine I time cause I have had balancers burn me before.

              Yeah it is summits harmonic that has multi marks.
