  • Rear end whine on my 2002 Ford F-150 SuperCrew

Last summer before I drove out to Colorado I had some maintenance done on my truck before the long drive including changing the rear end gear oil. It was changed with Amsoil Synthetic I believe and after doing so I've noticed a whine while driving at highway speeds which has gotten progressively worse. I've checked the fluid level twice and it's fine. Truck had somewhere around 175K when it was changed and I've added probably another 8K or so to that.

So I'm guessing the guessing the gears/bearings are going bad and need to be replaced. Any other thing it could be? With the mileage I have on the truck is this to be expected (180K+)?

another thing i do is pull the speed sensor, see if it has alot of metal shaving/chunk's and what not on it.
some times it can tell you if there is more issues at hand or not.
meaning (the ring and pinion are ok)
          good luck
