  • Fox-body tow hook ideas

Quickly found that I don't have a very easily accessible towing spot on the coupe when the trans gave up the ghost. I know team z makes a mount that comes through the front bumper, but it looks more for pulling the car around the pits vs. loading it on a trailer/flatbed. We ended up having to push the car as far up the flat bed as we could or else the tow chains would have destroyed the front bumper.

Anyone know if the team z unit is strong enough?

Team Z Motorsports components are featured on and under some of the fastest street and strip cars in the country. With American-made quality and racer support, it's no wonder so many champions choose Team Z Motorsports.

Are you only going to use it when needed or leave it semi-permanent?

Follow the idea that your BMW does. Weld in a threaded insert to the bumper mount. I'd feel better pulling straight other than the Joggle the one you pictured.

Cheap and easy to get. OEM BMW.

      Or something a little nicer.

I have a GT. I run it through the hole where the fog lights are supposed to be, and hook it to an opening in the frame rail. Works like a champ.

but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "holy shit!!!.. what a ride!"

Dave Zimmerman and teamZ make some badass shit! But for a tow hook, I'm sure you could come up with something cheaper.

Made my own. 1/4" steel, $15 pintel with 1" thread at Tractor supply. $3 1" all-thread connector, 1 piece of 3/8" steel rod, 1 piece of 1/2" tube...works like a champ.
