Why is everyone saying to toss it? The D44 is a pretty decent axle unless you plan on doing some seriously nasty wheeling. I see carriers and gear sets for those all day long for cheap. New seals and bearings and that axle could be good as new for a little over a hundred bucks.

I also happen to have the tools to pull and replace all the bearings on the pinion and carrier for pretty much any DANA axle.
