  • Exhaust question...

I have a 99 durango that I just had my dual flowmaster set up welded onto.. The way the exhaust is is just a Y=pipe into a single Cat then another Y into the mufflers..

I want true duals all the way back but was wondering if I put another Cat on it and run it back like an Hpipe with out the H... will I have to add another 02 sensor behind the the new cat or will the single one that is on it stock work?

They said they couldn't run the exhaust down the driver side because of fuel lines being to close.. Is it hard to reroute fuel lines?

sorry for the noob questions :-P

You want to run dual exhaust with your current y-pipe set up? So your saying you want to add another cat? I'm not understanding.. True duel exhaust has to have an H or X pipe..

What is your goal in doing this? It's not like it's a performance vehicle. Are you trying to make more hp, make it sound better, etc?
Even if you added another 02 sensor it wouldn't have a place to hook it up.
You can re-route fuel lines anywhere you want but I fail to see why it's worth going to all this trouble to do true dual exhaust on this vehicle.

No I dont want a y pip.. it just has on stock.. I took it to an exhaust shop and they said the only way to do it is to remove the cat and run the 2 pipes back along the passenger side.. But since it is a daily driver I dont want to remove the cat..

I asked if they could run the second pipe down the driver side and they said no because the fuel lines were in the way..

Picture of the y pipe running back to the cat.. You can also see where it makes another Y into the mufflers.

Picture of the cat over part of the frame

Picture of the same part of the frame from driver side. The exhaust guys said running a pipe over here would be to close to fuel lines and refused to do it..

And the cat is so fucking huge they couldn't fit another pipe next to it without removing it.

So If I re route the fuel lines and put a pipe down the driver side (with a second cat) will I have to put a secondary 02 sensor behind that cat?

          Hopefully the pictures help..

I want a little more power out of it.. and better sound.. Im debating whether or not it is worth all the trouble.. I had the 2 mufflers and the tips to put on so figured what the hell why not.. give it a little noise and some extra power when and if I ever use it.. Just seems kind useless to have a y-pipe into that huge cat and then break back apart into 2 mufflers.. but I will probably leave it like it is now.. was just curious.. Its just really quiet and has a little rumble now,
