I was under the impression that torque and mid range power isn't as important when running a steep gear, that's why you delete the imrc plates, or else you'll just burn the tires off.
I'm not talking about making Max power, beating a zo6 or winning a race. Just a n/a build.
With the proper set up, intake and cams how many rpm can the stock bottom end hold up? I know the rods are the weakness for power but what about rpm?
I'm just guessing at 7700-8000rpm, which is ideal.
The 5.0 cammer from ford racing is a bad bitch. 400hp at 8000rpm with 375trq.
You guys said the cams will hold you back, so upgrade the cams, and wind that bitch up!
The stock cams are great!
Jims SVT went 10.79 on the stock shortblock. That's still the record for NA b heads. I believe he was spinning it to 8500. Not sure how long though!
IMRCs need to go as they gunk up alot, it will hurt you a little down low though. It's also a good idea to get rid of them if you go with nitrous...especially a wet shot as you don't want it puddling on that port. Window switches are big investments for 96-98 nitrous guys.
Also if you were actually talking about a dream NA 4V build, we wouldn't be talking about b head motors or intakes anyway.Detailing is an Obsession!!

Typically you want to take 1.5"-2" out of the runners and raise the plenum floor. You don't want to do what you showed in one of those pics where you just cut the runners off. NA SVT made I believe an average of 5-6 hp gain throughout the power band and 26 hp peak! All with no torque loss. It moves your peak Hp up around the 7k mark.
