Anyone know the exact part number for a 2000 GT intake manifold gasket set? I either got the wrong intake or the wrong gasket. I'm REALLY hoping it's the gasket.Originally posted by Taya Kyle, American GunThere comes a time when honest debate, serious diplomatic efforts, and logical arguments have been exhausted and only men and women willing to take up arms against evil will suffice to save the freedom of a nation or continent.

*edit* did you check the coolant hose that runs under the intake for leaks, and/or replace the o-rings?Last edited by Baron Von Crowder; 01-02-2015, 11:57 AM."If I asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses." - Henry Ford

I had to modify the bracket from DJ but it worked. Heck, I even painted the thing.
Now I have a cylinder that isn't firing..... It never freak'n ends, I swear. Anyone know how to diagnose which cylinder is missing? (Insert stupid pun here for missing cylinder.)
No codes, yet. Letting the car warm up at idle to ensure the thermostat opens and I have no leaks. Hopefully it will throw a SES soon. Damn, then I gotta make it to a place that has a OBD II reader.Originally posted by Taya Kyle, American GunThere comes a time when honest debate, serious diplomatic efforts, and logical arguments have been exhausted and only men and women willing to take up arms against evil will suffice to save the freedom of a nation or continent.

Notes to anyone doing this in the future. These are just the things that come to mind, I'm sure it is not an exhaustive list.
99-2000 GT will need a different altenator bracket.
Mandatory things to do before intake removal
- Take a couple of pictures of the upper and all vacuum line, electric connections
- Drain coolant at least 1" below thermostat. (No need to drain all of it, just get it below the intake manifold level!)
- Source that damn altenator bracket
- Get zip lock bags and a sharpe. (I bag and tag everything. Overkill? Perhaps, but makes my life MUCH easier.)
- Lint free paper towels/clean rags. Use these ANYWHERE dirt, tool, parts can fall into a cylinder/head, including the intake itself once the throttle body is removed or prior to re-installation.
Things to replace while you have the upper manifold off. Obviously, some are optional, just an opportune time to perform some routine maintenance.
- Spark plugs
- Coils
- Coil to spark plug boots and spings. (Should almost be mandatory)
- Injector o-rings, maybe injectors themselves. YMMV.
- Throttle body to plenum/spacer gasket
- Serpentine belt
- All vacuum hoses. 5/8" ID on the ones I replaced.
- PCV valve
- MAYBE the altenator itself
- MAYBE the water pump
Things to check
- Coolant line in engine valley and o-rings
- Idler pulley for excessive play/soon to die bearings
- Air Filter. (Good time for a recharge if oil based)
- IAC valve
- Carefully clean the air meter in the intake tube
- Heater hoses. (Passenger side near rear of the engine)
- Thermostat (o ring goes on TOP!)
- Thermostat to radiator hose
- Ensure the new intake to head gasket area is clean and free of debris. A good scraper/razor blade and some brake cleaner works well here.
