Does anyone know if there are any major differences between the rear end housing from around a 2002 mustang and the 2005 and up S197 housing besides the spring pearches and the tri-link upper arm mount? In other words could you fabricate a tri-link attachment to a 87-93 car and use the 2005 and up rear end housing in the car? That would kick ass for me....

Yes, this is for our lemons car and if it can be done for cheap it just might fly. The chassis mount could be tied into the cage if needed and NVH is no concern. We already have run a PM3L and while it is much better than the quadrabind it has some drawbacks. The major thing is that the car acts different between turning right and left especially after the arm bushings get mushy which doesn't take long (3-4hrs of track time with semi sticky tires) even with the 2.3. Also the constant application of throttle wants to rip the axle to one side even still with the 2.3's massive off idle torque curve which wears the hell out of the panhard bar setup. We recently broke the panhard bar on the track and that is not fun. Less dramatic than having a rear caliper fall off at speed, but about the same pant shitting fear factor.
Since the s197 car some with the axle housing that actually already has the center mounted bracket I wonder if anyone has attempted this yet. I would imagine as the cars hit salvage yards this might be a good bang for the buck modification. Do the s197 cars still run a 7.5 diff for the v6 and a 8.8 for v8's or do they all get 8.8 now with the power the newer v6's have?
