I currently have an AOD in the tranny shop getting rebuilt. My builder and I were talking about which shift kit to use. We were looking to use either a Transgo kit our a Baumann Engineering kit.
In the description of the Transgo kit that we are looking at says that it will hold 1-3 to any rpm allowing you to shift it similar to a manual valve body. However you can also put it in drive and let it shift on its own.
We did not have as much info on the Baumann kit so I called them to see what they had to say. The guy confused me more than anything. He basically said their kit will allow you to adjust how hard it shifts and you can raise the full throttle shift points with but it will not allow you to carry it out to any rpm like the Transgo said. In fact where he really go me was saying on an AOD you had to shift from 1st to 2nd then back to 1st in order to carry out 2nd gear. I have never heard of such a thing. Does anyone know this to be true?
So have any of you used any of the above mentioned kits? What did you think about them? Please discuss.
