  • Brake Pads- Wagner ceramics any good?

It's time to do brakes on the sedan. Brakes like a champ now, and I want to keep the same stopping power.

I was looking at the Wagner ceramic pads, $51/$55 a set for front/rear, and they're doing a $15 rebate per set right now.

Are there substantially better pads, or is this the best I'll find?

From the dealer, they are $68 a set, semi-metallic composite (according to whoever answered the phone in the parts department)

    2006 Lexus GS 300

    Thanks.

Wagner are fantastic stock replacement pads and not noisy. If you want to throw some one thru the windshield get some Hawks. Hawks are harder on your rotors though.

One thing I love about the stockers, they're low dust. Anyone have input on the dust levels of these recommended pads? I was the car & the wheels regularly, but I loathe brake dust.

Napa has the Adaptive One pads for the front in stock, same price as stock replacement from Lexus. Their only ceramic rear that they have in stock is in the $80 range... the Napa CSR also said the pads were ceramic from the factory.

The Wagner ThermoQuiets work great and are very low dust.

I have them on my suburban and Mustang and neither have dust issues.

The ADO's are a dual formula ceramic. The inboard and outboard pads are different formula's and do not dust. They aren't cheap, but they are one of the best brake pad lines I've seen.

I would recommend you replace with the same material your car came with OEM. Ceramic will disperse less dust, but are much harder on your rotors.

The adaptive one is a great pad though.

I put the highest dollar Wagners on my 02. It took noticeably longer for the pads to start grabbing. Might be part of the reason I ended up wrecking the car in an emergency braking situation.

                    I vote OEM replacement.

I have used thermoquites and don't like them, I used to like the carquest blues by raybestos but quality hasn't been as good lately. Oem's are always a great choice and a lot of them will do the lifetime deal whn you buy them. I have recently come to like the duralast cmax pads. They come with hardware and what not and seat in very easily. I will also agree the ado's are real good pads.

The regular ones are. The cmax and Euro pads are made by an oem suppliet in Europe.

Duralast gold are made in same plant as wagner.

I put a set of Duralast Gold on my dad's Ranger and I felt they were worse than the cheaper Duralast sets.

I'd rather dive into a swimming pool filled with double edged razor blades, than use Duralast anything.
