Tell him he's supposed to put oil in the motor not milk shakes.

the o/f adapter gasket on the side of the block can cause mixing, I could see a hg that wasnt prepped right causing that too as oil is fed to the heads through the deck. New head bolts used? oem head bolts or arp?

Could be a cracked head, a cracked block or a bad head gasket. If it was running good as a 2v, I don't see why it wouldn't as a 4v unless it was assembled wrong or a broken 4v part.

please delete edited: for starters, I will say the fobra did not sell me a bad shortblock. I purchased it assuming it was a DOHC engine and did not do the homework and asked the correct questions I should have. What kind of fucking retard buys a $2k used shortblock over the internets and then slaps it together without having anything checked out by someone who can actually measure the shit to tell if it's all OK? And to top it all off, the kid didn't even know what the fuck he bought. It isn't the end of the world. He should just clean it up, re-sell it even for a loss, and take it as lesson learned....
