  • FRPP M-6316-M50 vs Summit 163302 balancer

I ordered a Ford Racing stock replacement damper for the mustang, I cracked open the box and was surprised at the poor quality of the item, this thing doesn't even belong on a stock motor IMO, did they start making these in China too? Check out the rubber ring and the machining on the bosses for the pulley bolts, looks like junk.

I decided to order the "OEM replacement" from summit racing and this is a very very nice piece for 77 bucks, the summit balancer is made in Australia by pro race, it has been tested to 8000rpm for 1 hr and 12,500 rpm for 15 min (SFI requires 1hr at 12,000)

Another nice thing about the summit balancer is the fact that the imbalance is on the inner part of the balancer vs the outside like OEM, so if the outer ring moves the motor is still in balance for the most part (see the balancing holes drilled in outer ring). I know a guy that snapped the crank in his car instantly when the outer ring on the OEM balancer spun.
