My first set of pads when I finished my car were Hawk Blues on the front and blacks on the rear. They were "ok", but when I went to the 01s and 97s for pads...holy shit. What a difference.

Needless to say, I have not run anything other than Performance Friction since. They are pricey, but well worth it in my opinion.

Also, as far as cobra brake stuff, CYAZ06 may have some of the parts you are looking for before too long..... Just an FYI
I've always hated the bite on my DTC-60's, it has cost me several front tires due to lockup, I almost ordered some PFC-01's for my Miata before Hallett but I am trying to save my pennies for the CMC project, I swapped out my DTC-60's for some old Carbotechs and they were much better than the Hawks.

We ran the 06's at hallett in the Camaro since we killed our set of 01's. They were at 40% and hoped to get through Saturday with them but oh well. The 06's require a LOT more pedal and have a LOT less initial bite....however, they wore very little. I started dialing more rear brake in to help but started getting axle hop.

You might like the 06's. For you Miata, try the 97's front and rear. The guy I buy all my pads through used to own a Miata and loved that combo. I drove it once in the rain and it was fantastic.

once you get the car built and you start sorting it to your driving style, pad selection will become necessary. However, you can't beat the awesomeness of the 01/97 combination. Next time you see me at the track, ask me about the Hawk rep at Miller in 09! LOL!

Cool, yeah I was planning on the 01/97's, Stoptech BBC, $330 pads
I was also reading about the 08's, people seem to be digging them, I hear they have better bite than the 06's and better life.

What's your plan on the cage ? I have a bender, but not a 1.75 die, maybe we can work something out. It's a pro-tools manual bender, Works like a champ.

Don't want to sell, maybe we could split the cost of the die and you could borrow it to do the cage. You will have to bolt it to the floor and level it up. It's not too hard to make bends , you just need to learn centerline and radiuses with the dies. Keeping level is important. You can waste some tubing quick if you're not paying attention. I have smaller dies, just never got the 1.75.

I use the "low cost tools" tubing bender. Have built several cages with it now and works like a champ. I loaned it someone once and they fubared the 8 ton bottle jack in it so I replaced it with a better quality 12 ton. Works much easier.

Beware on some of the notchers. It takes a TALL drill press to use them!

I really want one around the shop so I sprung for a 105HD with a 1.75x6x180 die, let me know if you need to use the die, what size is yours, I may need to use a 1.5 die for my miata junk?

I ordered the JD2 notchmaster with the reacharound mod from swag, I am going to just use a hand drill with it.

                              I need to check. I think I have the 3/4, 1 , and 1.25 dies... They're all 90 degree dies.
