So I'm concerned about the structural rigidity of the frame now. being a leaf spring car, I imagine that the weight of the car will cause to notches to be pivot points. This was a concern before I started cutting so it's not like I came to a "WTF" moment.
What do y'all think about if I added reinforcing plates to the opposite (inside rail) of the notches?

I'd be better off back halving it now! I still get to cut out the driver side tub I half way welded in and redo it! Great fun

Just put a 1/8th inch plate on the inside of the frame rail the full length of the notch or a few inches past and weld it on. then weld a 1 3/4 bar between the two rails like a cross member or a coil over shock mount. It would stiffin it up and tie it all together89 dove grey lx, turbo blowthrough

I was just wondering about this thread.
So what exactly did you do? Looks like you replaced the original frame rail with some straight rectangular tubing. What about the arch over the rearend? Did you move it inward like the link I posted?
