Wiggins don't allow for misalignment. They only help if the joint rotates. They keep the material from cracking from cyclic loads.

Not true, I work with wiggins clamps everyday in aviation and you can have up to 8 degrees of angular misalignment.

Trust me, I would rather run something a little nicer than a silicone coupler.

What are my options? Looking at the short run from the cooler (mockup) to the T/B and consider that the hole still needs to be cut into the cooler, what can I do? Come to think about it any movement at all should only be left to right twist instead of front to back with the poly mounts.

Maybe I can mount the intercooler with small bushings built in to help.

V-band, wiggins, or some of the cheaper clamshell clamps.
I plan on running wiggins on my vortech setup. Mainly because I can get o-rings and stuff from work for it.

I have aluminum 3" V-band sets that I can use but my concern is rigid mounting and tweaking aluminum parts like the cooler etc.

I like options though. Guess I can check out some wiggins stuff.

That looks well made.

I bet if you used a large/soft isolator on the core support you could get away with a rigid pipe connections. Maybe something with posts and rings you see on lower radiator mounts.

My fear would be that with any vibration / movement on the engine side, rigid mounting of the cooler, and solid connections between motor and cooler would result in stress fractures somewhere. I may just be over thinking and have no real world experience in mounting anything in a setup like yours, but I would think the silicone couplers would allow some flex and vibration dampening between the various components. The poly engine mounts are very stiff, but they do still allow some range of motion.

So the car went to Matt's and he went to town.

Cooler is mounted and charge pipes built.







He was also responsible for welding up the lower core support, modifying the radiator to a dual pass, mounting the radiator, and mounting the fan.

looks good man, really like the vibrant clamp.

It does and offers a ton of flex and they claim it will hold. I might do a cold side psi check just to be sure.

The beginnings of my homemade heat exchanger. A couple pieces of aluminum. a couple -16an weld bungs and a few brackets and I'll be able to mount it between the bumper and fuel tank.
