So the car made way more than it needed to after changing to e85 and changing the timing, but we got it down to a safe level and the car is loving the boost!

That's great. Just be careful with e85. Don't let that shit sit in your fuel system very long. if it's going to be down or not driven, I would dump the tank, put in 5 gallons of 93oct and run it through the system. Then dump it before going back to e85.

If it's that much hassle, it seems like adding a fuel cell for 93 octane and a valve to switch back and forth would make life much easier.
