Buzzards don't like cats. Thats why you will see a cat rot on the side of the road, where as everything else, even skunks will get eaten by the buzzards.

Not to say they won't eat a cat, but Ive never seen it.

In this heat, you will regret pitching it over the fence in a couple of days.

If a dead pet is in my yard, same thing. If it was a stray, either calling animal control in case of disease, or buring it myself. That thing is going to smell aweful for a week behind your house. Enjoy that.
For me the stand up thing to do would be to try to find the owner and let them know the cat died. I wouldn't thow it over the fence. I would call animal control or put it out with the trash.

If you'd man up tell me that your dogs killed it by accident I'd be pissed and I deal with it, but if I found it dead behind your home and I knew you had dogs. Well it wouldn't take a brain surgeon to figure out what happened.

Interesting revenge aspect, though I consider feral cats much different than a loose dog.

Another thing, if it was a dog that made it's way into the back yard would you toss it over the fence if it had a collar?

No, cats fall under the leash law as well.

Its got a collar, but I'm certainly not going to go digging around on a dead cat to find it. I don't know what it is about people thinking cats are good to just roam. If they make it long enough to really wise up, maybe they are. But they're small animals. Birds of prey like to eat them, and dogs like to just kill them on sight. If I ever wanted a cat, I wouldn't let the damn thing outside. They're not big enough.

You'd have to see this place, but I won't be smelling anything. If there was any possibility of that I would have put it somewhere else. Dogs probably will, but fuck 'em they killed it, let them deal with the consequences. There are often lots of dead animals back there. The concrete drainage ditch is deep and wide. You'll find ducks, turtles, birds, fish, (and yeah the occasional cat) in there rotting away. It goes a long ways through the neighborhood, and from my observations its a favorite road for stray dogs.

That is why I'm not going to say anything. They took the risk letting their cat outside. Fuck 'em. I'm not saying I don't feel anything for them, but its on them not me. Sorry charlie. My dog didn't come into their backyard and kill their cat. My dogs are safely tucked away in their kennel where they belong. So I'm not under any moral obligation to tell anyone anything. If some animal of mine got loose and went to their house and got killed, I wouldn't fault them in the slightest. Its not that I wouldn't want to tell them, but I know there are plenty of people in the world that like to blame others for their mistakes, so I won't be contacting the owner/s.

That would just mean that they're not at all familiar with the area. There are stray dogs back there all the time.

But you have no issue coming into contact with it to throw it over a fence. Weak excuse for a balless mental patient to not extend the common courtesy of informing the cat owner.

That's why I wouldn't totally throw you under the bus here. Yea, I would probably do it differently but I don't know your neighbors.

Hell yes. If my dog killed someone's cat nobody would ever find out. Not opening up that can of worms for no reason.

It would be nice if I could tell em but yeah, not opening that can of worms.

Yeah probably lol. Along with any other dead animal. Like the rats and birds I've found back there. But my dogs only hate cats. A stray dog has gotten into my yard several times, always small dogs that can manage to fit through a small opening in an iron gate. They always just played with my dogs and had a good time. Since the animal was still freakin alive at the time, I'd look on the collar and call the owner. One dog that got in was so old it had gone blind. No problems

Pretty much my stance on cats. He explains it well. I don't hate 'em but, if you let it out, sorry for your loss. They know they're taking the risk and they do it anyway. My neighbor had this one really cool cat one time, that I liked fine. It was just one of those rare, really cool cats. Didn't give a fuck, wasn't like most cats. It was such a cool cat that it would come in the house when I opened the door after I got home or something, and I didn't even care that it did it. Oddly enough, my dog (only had one at that time) didn't seem to mind this cat. Probably cause it wasn't really afraid of him and didn't act like a sketchy bitch around him. Think it got kidnapped though, saw a couple of kids on bicycles holding the cat and playing with it, and never saw it again after that.
