  • Anyone familiar with sex offender laws?

This is the second one, publicdata says it was a felony, but am checking Dallas' site before I go any farther.

What exactly are you wanting to know?

I'm wanting to know if he has a felony.

This guy was brought into a FB group about having a stolen bike in his mom's garage that he was parting out for, "a guy he did really know, but asked if he could sell parts and keep 75% of the money" and then his history of molesting a 5 yr old girl when he was 14 came up. He shouldn't even have a FB account and i've been reporting it and it's been taken down, but he creates a new.

He had pictures up of him having firearms on his FB, but I didn't have a chance to screenshot, but I got one off his instagram.

I dug around and he had 2 charges FAIL_REG_SEX_OFFENDER_10_YRS, which I think the second turns into a class b felony.

So i'm trying to see if it's truly a felony, because if so I do not believe he should have any firearms.

Felony or not once so much time has passed and he's completed his probation or whatever he can still walk in and purchase a gun to the best of my knowledge.

The probation lasted 10 years, plus he went on additional probation for the failure.

                1. Case F-1054410 - Filing date 11/3/10
                2. Case F-0951630 - Filing Date 2/22/10

For the 2nd case, which I think was a felony, he was prosecuted 7/9/12 with 2 years of probation, so it should still be active.

I'm just not sure how to verify a felony.

I have to ask, what is your hard-on for this dude?

Just boredom really. He doesn't deserve to be walking free, so if I can find something to send him back I will.

Not according to federal law, anything punishable over 1 year imprisonment. In order to get gun rights back you've got to go back to court and have them reinstated.

Get in touch with the local sheriff.

Depends on the crime. And there are a shit ton of hoops to jump through. It's not as easy as waiting a set amount of time and walking in to buy a gun. By law, felons aren't allowed to buy a gun. There are exceptions, but its a small minority who can, and only after jumping through said hoops.

Any direct connection to the guy? You can't police the whole world, and there are a lot worse things than that going on. Seems like you should mind your own unless this guy did something to you or yours.

Not really much of a connection. What do you mean worse things? Someone who molested a 5 year old girl that now could possibly have his hands on firearms that he shouldn't seems pretty bad to me.

Do you know the whole story behind his original crime? No, but the court does, and they sentenced him accordingly.

As far as having guns now, how is that your concern if the guy isn't connected to you or your loved ones? Do you know how many millions of felons out there have guns and still commit crimes? Do you know how many people are out there molesting or raping or killing people? So this guy has guns. What's it to you? How do you know that's causing any problems?

Again, there are way worse things to concern yourself with if you just have to play armchair cop.
