DALLAS - A Dallas firefighter is under investigation for his possible role in two robberies, police said.

Jesus Ventura was taken into jail early Wednesday morning. News 8 had exclusive video showing police escorting a handcuffed Ventura into the jail.

Police questioned Ventura for several hours about two robberies that happened Tuesday in Dallas.

The first happened at a Chase Bank on Sylvan Avenue. The suspect walked up to the counter and threatened the teller, investigators said. The bank is less than a half mile away from where Ventura served as a firefighter at Dallas Fire Station No. 45.

Detectives also questioned Ventura about a second robbery that happened Tuesday at a Valero gas station on Fort Worth Avenue in Dallas. Investigators said the suspect matched the description of the robber from the Chase Bank earlier in the day.

Ventura is on administrative leave from Dallas Fire-Rescue following an incident in March in which he was accused of carrying a loaded gun into the fire station and firing one shot.

Court records show Ventura is on hold at the jail awaiting the FBI.
