I've never seen so many staties on I45 between centervile and Dallas... I'm seeing one, on average, about every 5 miles. Also, why is it so damn hazy out here? Is it related to all those wildfires I keep hearing about?

It is the fires... I'm 45 miles from them in te direction the wind is actually blowing... It looks and smells like the town is on fire...

We have one that patrols in front of our auto title office just about every day for at least 4-5 hours a day. I would guess he writes a ticket about every 6-10 minutes during that time period. The speed limit drops from 50mph to 45mph right in front of our location and he nails people not paying attention.

Driving from Abilene to Odessa and back today I saw at least 8 DPS stops, 2 DTF stops and a Sheriff getting him some too.

Between all the fires out here, the sky isn't blue anymore - it's dusty brown and hazy. I think the last report I heard said that over a half million acres have been torched so far.

One of the stops that I counted as DTF, was a black Tahoe or Expedition with a lot of new "hidden" LED lighting bolted in. It didn't match the Mitchell county Sheriff's cars or Colorado City PD. And it didn't have the "Hot Wheels"-style stickers on it, like DTF.

On the side it said something about "9th District...." and a I didn't catch the rest of it(driving too fast, LOL). Any idea what type of agency that would/could be?

It caught my attention because at first glance it looks kinda shady and I'd be hesitant to pull over for it.

I about shit a brick last month when I CUT OFF a white Tundra with an aftermarket rear bumper and dark tinted windows... we were on I10, he was going 10 under in the fast lane slightly behind someone in the right lane.

I tried to be calm and cool, but after a few minutes, I said fuck it and stood on it and wedged my way in. Was well over the limit by the time I got in front of him.

turns out it was a local sheriff running plates/info on a possible illegal.

he gave me a 15 second talking-to and jumped back in his truck and hauled ass to catch up to that other vehicle

The Sheriff's SUVs out here are black, but have different decals down the sides and have a normal light bar up top. It looked like whoever got pulled over by the mystery truck was getting the "don't stop til you hit the back of their teeth" search on the side of the road - that's why I initially grouped it in as DTF.
