They sell long plastic strips with barbs on them at home depot. It flexes and grabs hair and shit. Try that.. You can't get the hanger more than 3 inches because of the trap probably.

Were you getting caught on the turn in the pipe or were you hitting the clog?

I've used both and both have worked for me.

i believe its getting stuck on the turn down, it wont let me push it in anymore, i tried to use one of those but since the drain hole has a metal x on it, it wont let any of those snakes thru it

The 'P' trap for a tub is actually about 14-16" away from the actual drain on the tub. What ever device you are using to try to clean out the trap has to go down about 3 inches, turn and go back towards the end of the tub about 9-12 inches, then turn down and go a few more inches to reach the 'P' trap itself. It is usually easier to try and go through the overflow as it is a straighter shot to the trap.
