I work 4x10's, Tues-Fri. Mondays are great for running errands. You remember the stories John use to tell us about the the three chinamen playing Fantan? This guy runs up to them and says, "Hey, the world's coming to an end!" and the first one says, "Well, I best go to the mission and pray," and the second one says, "Well, hell, I'm gonna go and buy me a case of Mezcal and six whores," and the third one says "Well, I'm gonna finish the game." I shall finish the game, Doc.

haven't read the thread
4 10s is the best schedule IMO. i have worked 3 12's and a 6 for years, and it is cool to have 3 and a half days off but 12 hour shifts can suck sometimes. there was about a month where i wasn't on shift but worked 4 10s and i loved it. not as tired from when i worked 12s and still got 3 days off every week.
the only better shift IMO is working 4 12's one week and 3 12's the next week. that shift rotation gets you 4 days off every other weekend, not to mention you still get 3 days off on the other weekend
i must admit though that i would give it all up to work just during the week =/ working weekends(only one day but still) sucks when you consider all the events and fun stuff you miss

I used to work a compressed work week where we alternated 3x12s then 4x12s. The long days sucked. It felt like you did nothing but work and rest until you completed your work week, but the time off and extra $ rocked. Fortunately they paid OT for anything over 8 for compressed vs. over 40hr for standard shifts. Will your OT calculation change with the 4x10 schedule?
