Weren't you or someone on the board near that really bad wreck on 183 a few years ago that involved an 18wheeler with sand?

Intersections are the worst, especially with double turn lanes. I fucking hate the people that inch out. Why would you want to sit in THE most dangerous spot on a road? God damned idiots. Sometimes, I slow to 10-15 mph though busy intersections. Riding a bike for a month in this town would make everone a safer driver.

Eye contact and having my head on a swivel has kept me alive.

I rolled up on an accident seconds after it happened on the 183 access road at 157, if that's what you are thinking about. It was a end dump trailer that rolled over onto a car. Pretty horrible, the woman was killed. I had just gone through that intersection in the same direction as the crushed car, minutes before, with Lea's daughter. That crushed car could just as easily have been us. Pretty sobering.

We weren't involved in it, but did drive by it either right before or right after. I can't remember which now.

*edit* He beat me to it.

Was this the accident in which the truck driver was an old member on the other site?

I know it isn't really related to this thread but it made me think about that and I couldn't put a finger on who it was.

No, people did make a connection with that dude from over there though. I don't recall his name, but I'm sure someone will. Killed someone with his big rig that wasn't up to snuff safety wise.. At least that's what people had said.

Yeah, that's it. I knew it was some spanish name, Mendoza, Garcia, something like that. I remember seeing it on the news, then reading about it on the other site, an 18-wheeler rolling over onto a car and killing the woman inside.

i ride expecting every person on the road to not see me and/or cut me off, it's part of riding IMO. when you don't think like that is when you get lazy and bad things happen...

Grove rat you are so right about that. When I rode I just assumed that no one could see me and that they were going to do something stupid. Gave up riding years ago but know about riding in Dallas traffic. I don't miss that part at all.

I am in no way saying the lady wasn't at fault but you have to take extra precautions like this on a bike.
Exactly, if there are multiple lanes and you're not in the middle you're rolling the dice.

TS - Did the lady stop? We were talking about it yesterday at the shop. More often than not when you get into an accident with a car they leave you for dead. All three of us in the convo had been in hit&runs on bikes.
