Seeing someone dead doesn't really bother me that much, but eerie circumstances like that definitely would. Maybe in that last moment she saw something so amazing the she smiled. I have read how some doctors believe that near death experiences are a result of the brain being deprived of oxygen. I hope when I am dead I can go out with a smile on my face.

Everyone has something to contribute, shit, look at me. It's how you sell yourself. I found a position that I could structure my resume around and went for it. No prior military or overseas experience here. I did have the PD in my background, but my position had nothing to do with law enforcement or security.

Life is way too short to not try to drive as safe as possible. Usually its just people in a hurry or someone in the wrong place at the wrong time. I know everytime i see someone with a white sheet over them after a fatal wreck it stays with me. Over a long period of time those memories and thousands of crosses on the side of the road remind you how precious life really is. RIP

That is sad. The ones that get me are when the most serious of injurys are to the ones that are innocent. I ran one with a couple teens, the male driver wanted to see how fast his four door sedan would go on a two lane country road. Lost control and rolled into the woods. Only injury was the 17 Y/O female in the back seat that sustained massive head injurys due to tree crushing the roof on top of her head.

            Truly sad.

                Sad, Luis.

One of the many reasons I don't miss being in EMS. You could arrive on ten fatal or near fatal MVA calls and do what's required of you with no lasting effects, but every now and then there will always be one that really sticks with you.

I've never seen a dead person/body. That would be pretty crazy.

The smell of burnt flesh is something that you will never forget either.

                                Your on flesh.
3rd degree burns have little or no pain right after but the smell is terrible. My son was 2 days out of a leg cast riding a XR80. He fell over, hot pipe on thigh, I ran over and lifted it off, all the flesh stuck to the pipe. No pain at all. After the skin graft and about 4 months later he was riding again
