  • I've seen many fatality crashes, but

For some reason this one haunts me. Last night as we were heading in forthe night on 59 in Houston, I drove up on the aftermath of a JUST occured collision. There was a Hispanic girl laying on her left side in the fetal position with her left arm supporting her head, as if she was napping. Her face held a smile, showing that she was in peace with herself. Pouring from the back of her skull was a large pool of dark, foamy blood. Fragments of
Brain matter next to her lifeless body. Her friend, hugging her from behind, stroking her long black hair crying hopelessly begging for her friend to wake up.

Tragic. May this girl rest in peace.

I hear ya, bro. Some of them haunt you for a long, long time.

I've got two of my own that still bother me to this day.

Its how her body was when I saw her. How she layed on the freeway. I'm fairly sure the smile was involuntary. I'm not a dr, but I'm pretty sure she was deceased at that moment. At least her eyes were closed. I've seen people who die suddenly still have their eyes open when I arrive on scene.

Defintely a sobering moment, I'm sure.

I witnessed a fatality accident on 635 near Mesquite where a pick-up truck driver was thrown from his truck in the Westbound lanes nto our oncoming Eastbound lanes. This all happened about 200yrds in front of me, and there just so happened to be a cop in front of me at the time. He brought traffic to a quick stop, but when I was able to get around the cruiser and get a look at the guy, his eyes wide open and his clothes were pretty much ripped off. An image I won't forget, and a reminder to wear my seat belt.
