  • Big bonehead move, possible water in tank?

Filled up the car last night, slightly distracted, order up the car wash when i'm done, & drive through it. I forgot to put the gas cap on & shut the lid! Holy fuck, I had high pressure water sprayed directly in to the gas inlet...

    I'm fucking stoooopid.

No damage yet, but I'm sure if the tank ever gets low enough, water will be sucked up in to the system, and it will run like a turd, if it continues to run.

maybe put some fuel treatment in there that evaporates water or drain the tank

I highly doubt anything got in the tank. Even if somehow managed to get in, I doubt it was a large enough amount to hurt anything.

Just stick a sham wow in there. It should dry it out.

LOL. Seriously, go to Napa, get a can of Seafoam, pour it in the tank and fill up. You won't have any issues.

Ive never tried seafoam in the gas tank but I always used a bottle of water remover from the parts store. I cant remember the name but its a clear bottle with green liquid in it over with all the other water removers. Always worked great for me. Ill see if I can find a pic since Im so vauge lol.

Oil and oil products are lighter then water . If you did get water in the tank it would be at the botom near the pickup already . If its running and you have no problems now you are fine .

I knew the water would be on bottom, just failed to think that the pick-up would also, naturally, be flush with the bottom. Double Doh!

A couple of bottles of HEET in the gas tank probably wouldn't be a bad idea.
