I'm not one to rush in to anything without getting a couple of bids first. So I'd make sure and do your due diligence.

But, I can say, I had a 25' tree cut down and the stump ground, and another 30ish' tree umbrella'd for $950.

You're talking about 15 trees, 40+' tall. That's probably two full days (maybe three) worth of work, plus the hauling off/disposal of what they get rid of. I think it's a pretty fair price. I can understand the sticker shock, but it sounds like you've got a fuckload of big ass trees.

Shit with the weather being as windy as it is there is huge parts of four or five trees laying on the ground on my street and they did it all by themselves.

Was the quote from a Mexican? If so, then that's a good price/estimate

Stihl chainsaw, gloves, goggles, chaps, fuel mix, extra chain, sharpener = $495 + tax
Giving the trees the old one prune so you don't have to drop $2K in the future = priceless!

Kind of late to be pruning trees isn't it?

Not really the ideal time, but there is lots of it going on right now. May also be partially due to the wind though.

Doesn't the metroplex have a brush day once a month?
