Question for people who know a little about Cement work

I poured the form for the base of my son's Basketball goal today. I have a square form around the upper part . When removing the form, is there any tricks to getting a clean break away from the cement? Like whacking the form a few times with a bfh? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

btw take the form off after 3 to 5 hours after you poured it depending on the hardness! don't wait till tomorrow to take it off or it'll be a bitch

Try to pry an end loose w/ a claw hammer, and if that doesn't work, its BFH time. It's a hoop base, not a decorative patio. If the concrete has hardened, smacking the shit out of it isn't going to hurt anything.
