  • Bonded title?

What is the skinny on bonded titles? Found a vehicle I'm interested, the title is apparently held in Connecticut, but the former owner is military and won't return a call (his wife sold the vehicle).

The guy I'm potentially buying from mentioned getting a bonded title. No experience with this and don't want to get involved in a divorce situation.

Around $7k. The biggest issue I'm seeing is transferring to another state. About to flush this deal.

I have done two bonded titles. One was for an out of state car. No big deal. each one was around $200 if I recall. I sold one of the cars just a few weeks after I got the new title.

Two written estimates from dealers, a scribing of the vin on a piece of paper and head to the Carrolton tax office. Then you fill out some pwk and they give you a packet. You go from there and head for an insurance agent that will bond it, State Farm did mine and it was 10 percent of the value. Take your bond and pwk to your local office and walla title.3 years go buy and no claims against the title and you are set with a nice blue title.

Oh and I am sure you would still need the out of state inspection.

That sounds about like what I did on my old bonneville. Although I do remember I went through a bond agent, not an insurance office. And I thought it was 2 years instead of 3.

Of course I could be wrong, I've slept since all that took place...

I kinda wondered what would have happened if there was a claim against it. Would I have been paid the bonded amount?
                          .

Indeed. I'm not willing to shell out a shit ton of cash for a fuck up I wasn't involved in.
