This thread reminds me of that show "Southern Beach Classics" (I think - don't know the name) but it is the one with the bald guy and hot wife and they have a warehouse full of vintage vehicles. I watched it for the first time last night and it is pretty good. He goes around and trades, buys and sells cars.

You could probably sell the Camaro for more than you have in it, once it's LS2/T-56 swapped.

Dude...you know my taste....that skateboard ramp of a hood will probably be off of the car before I even take it off of the trailer! ;-)

...and I'm gold-chain shopping now. I think I could potentially grow the mullet back and get me some tight-assed acid washed Levi's too....after all, what goes better with a blue camaro....besides a chick with a bunch of hairspray that can make your middle finger smell for 3 days!!

I don't like the red stripe, but I say stick with the Mustang. Don't get me wrong, the camaro is cool, but I'd keep the stang.

It really boils down to personal preference, if you feel nostalgic about the camaro, then it might be a good opportunity to re-live a little, and make some cash.

For the other questions asked...the Camaro is a very well built car too. A few things I would have done differently myself (especially the hood!), but overall still a nice car that is tastefully done. It has really nice paint on it, currently has an aluminum headed SBC in it (prob ~400hp) with a built Th350, and the bigger 10-bolt out back with a 3.73 posi. Has nice interior with Corbeau seats up front, original AC car with all power...including power windows, which was still a rare option on those cars, and the suspension is very well sorted...quick ratio box, big sway bars, QA1 coilovers, etc.

What I will say is that it drives WAY better on the street than the Mustang. However, to be clear...the difference is that my Mustang is just very raw feeling....manual steering, really stiff clutch (it's a converted pull cable like a fox car), and also manual brakes....even though they are Baers and it stops really well, they still require some foot effort....the Mustang is kind of like driving a road car around on the street....very stiff and manual feeling. However, I'm fairly certain it would stomp the shit out of this Camaro in a straight line run....but then again, this Camaro would out handle the Mustang no-doubt. All the while being a one-handed driver with quick ratio PS, good PB, and a MUCH better ride. With a 6.0 and T56 in it, I know it will be an awesome driver. That is also what is appealing to me....I'm really getting more into road course stuff, and the Mustang is a little too nice to risk, but this car on the other hand....I'd have no problem taking out some cones while sliding backwards off of an apex.

For the guy that mentioned so many of these cars on pro-touring.com....I really couldn't care less about what that bunch of tools thinks, but then again, there is also a reason you see so many second gen Camaros and Firebirds being built into G-machines....the same reason I wouldn't mind owning another one.

I have a buddy that will probably have his very clean 70 1/2 up for sale within the next few years. (red/black stripes) He doesnt think hes going to be selling it, but daddy and mommy's health/money is running out, hes looking at getting married to a woman with three children and the car has sat in his garage for almost 7 years now. (this is actually the car that Pat, of Pat's auto sales had for his son back about 10 years ago). Anyway, if that comes up, which I don't see him in the financial situation to keep it..I'll let you know.

Sounds like you have your mind made up then, hopefully the new owner will appreciate the "niceness" of the Mustang as well. You could do a similar treatment to the Mustang, but if you really want to beat on the car on a track, then the Camaro is the most cost-effective option.

I don't get it. Granted I am not looking at them in person but what makes your car worth a 5K motor and 5 figures cash more than the Camaro. If they are as nice a they look in pics I wouldn't think there is more than 5K differenece in both cars. Unless you know something I don't know I would be taking the deal before he changes his mind. Sell the Camaro and add the cash to build the next one even more killer.

That's tough man. I think you generally swing twards the bowtie, right?

Your mustang is spectacular, I dig the hell out of it. I am not a fan of the stripe at all, but to each their own.

The only camaro I would be intÉrested in is a true split bumper, like the one above. That's a pretty tough call either way, but I think I might do it. Lots of cash and an ls/6spd would make that car.
