Keep paying em, doesn't change my thoughts on it. I have 30 minutes to take care of my own business, and the last time I paid one it was a complete waste of my money.

I am pretty sure there have been recipe and other BS topics beat to death more than this one.

Hey, if you like paying more and being on probation longer, then more power to you. You asked "why pay them?, so I answered.

It depends on the situation if an attorney can help. What most of them will do is reset dates for so long that you end up not having to pay anything. We are doing just this with an accident my fiance was in that the other person caused but because she was young and out at 3 in the morning it was her word against an older gentleman's and she was given the ticket(which is why we are fighting it.) This was about a year and a half or maybe even closer to 2 years ago.

I got one dismissed because the cop never made me sign the ticket(means you don't agree to appear so no FTA can be isssued as far as I can tell). He was an older officer. I went in on an unrelated ticket later and they asked me about it and when I sat down and acctually talked to the DA she said she would just dismiss it because she had no case since the officer was retired or no longer in the department for one reason or another.

She was able to file it outside the court room and my record went bye bye...but really? Late and dressed like she was going out with the girls after my hearing?

        $1000 well spent I guess.
She was going out with that $1000 you gave her.

Exactly but I am stating that you will not always pay less by going that route nor are you guaranteed to get it dismissed. After paying one of the BIG name lawyers years ago to get me exactly what I could have done myself "cheaper" I decided not to go that route.

BUT if I get a ticket where I cannot qualify for DD or deferred then I will surely go the attorney route.

Hopefully, I won't go that route. I'm thinking about infiltrating the ACLU and blowing their fucking minds!

I've never had a ticket dismissed, nor have I ever paid an attorney with the intention of the ticket getting dismissed. I find out the fine amount and terms of the probation if I were to do it on my own, and then I call the attorney and get his numbers. So far, the cost of the attorney has always been outweighed by the decrease in the fine amount, so I come out ahead. And in all but one case, the probation period was shortened. Bonus!
