Pre/Early Diabetes?

Everyone in my family is too, but most haven't taken care of themselves. I kinda just thought it was inevitable for me, but I had decided to start losing weight for other reasons. My change in life style showed up in blood tests that I am not even pre-diabetic so it was worth it. FAR better to be able to prevent it than deal with a lifetime of the consequences from not taking action.

Patients with hypothyroidism often have diabetes as well...this is due to the slowed metabolism and the pancreas' reduced ability to produce/secrete insulin when the body's glucose level gets elevated. I am surprised that your doctor did not tell you this...what is your TSH/free T4?

I quit smoking about 4-5 weeks ago but it wasn't a decision that came from thought and preparation. It just tasted like true ass one day and that was it for me. It's not something you can force, that's for sure. I've tried that a thousand times and it never worked. Just cut what you can when you can. That's a positive step and every step helps!Originally posted by VertnutI'd run my junk through a waffle iron, if it makes you more "comfortable". LOL!

I did have 196 last night after dinner, but that was with a bad dinner and 3 samoas, and about an hour after. Normally I test two hours after. I was normal this morning.
And don't forget the insurance thing I was talking about, you don't want to spend $50 a month when it isn't necessary.
