My personal favorite is eel, but the first time you eat it, the texture fucks with you.
I haven't been able to make myself try the eel, yet, but I looooove sushi. My favorites are the volcano roll, Hawaiian roll (only found it at Blue Fish), and my ultimate favorite is called the ebi ebi roll at our local place. It has tempura shrimp, avocado, and crab with fresh sushi shrimp and avocado on top. Just had it a few nights ago. Yum!

Anything with salmon or tuna is going to be pretty mild. Just be adventurous and try something.

This place is awsome and they have a huge menu.
They have one called the Rooster roll, it's made with fried chicken and it's spicy but damn good.

The spicy Octopus roll is awesome too.

I've only tried sushi once, and it was bad. My friends would tell me try this roll, oh you don't like that, well try this different one, and it all tastes the same.

I have yet to have any good sushi out here. I am from Hawaii and its just normal every day food there but its a lot different then what I have found in Texas. Cali rolls suck IMHO, too much seaweed. Dynamite Roll, Dragon and Volcano rolls are great. Crab rolls are pretty good too. Spicey tuna rolls are also quite tastey.
Go easy on the wasabi too. About a half sugar cube size to a half ounce of Soy Souce is a good ratio and dont drown the sushi piece in it.

And as said, stay away from Sashimi. It simply cant be made correctly out here. The best way to eat sashimi is: Catch fish, cut open, serve then continue to fish. LOL!

the rolls don't really have THAT much difference... but I like to mix it up with rolls, nigiri, and a little sashimi sometimes

it's basically an excuse to drink beer and take wasabi hits

tuna is probably the least offensive of the raw shit.

Just eat it with chop sticks and dip it in wasabi/soy sauce - it's all the same.

There are some good sushi places around here but there are definitely plenty of bad ones as well.
I tend to stay away from the places where the sushi is made by Mexicans or Koreans (not racist but a lot of those places can't even get the sushi rice right let alone get good quality fish and cut it properly).
Also, unless you want worms, eating fish raw right when you catch it is not a great idea. It should be flash frozen for 48 hours.
