Grilled eel rolls are really good. Also some places have a "texas roll" which is usually teryaki beef rolled with cucumber and rice.

Not a fan of sushi really, but the salmon and eel I had weren't bad the two or three times I went.

for your first time, stick to California roll, Crab, and Philadelphia rolls. This way nothing will shock you right off the bat and you will have a good time.

My personal favorite is eel, but the first time you eat it, the texture fucks with you.

btw if you want outstanding sushi, and you want to pay about half of anything you find in downtown dallas. Go here

tokyo 1 in addison is good for your first time too as it's a buffet and a lot of selection.

Usually between $4.50 and $7.00, depending on where you go.
